‘No.8@Arup’ is an annual competition that shines a spotlight on innovative installations and sculptures from talented designers and architectural practices. The idea is a simple one, encouraging emerging architectural practices to provide an opportunity to showcase their creativity in Arup’s London office.

The theme for 2017 is a simple one. To showcase the process of design and manufacture. “The Story of Making”. We have asked “The Story of Making” to be contextualised by the Circular Economy, providing an open framework within which designers and architects can use their imagination.

14 practices entered the competition for 2017 and the following eight have been shortlisted:

"No.8@arup each year continues to draw creative talent from around the world. This year’s theme, “The Story of Making”, fifth in the series, has once again sparked the imagination and attracted concepts of a very high standard. We are delighted to announce the eight shortlisted practices and look forward to exploring these conceptual ideas."
