Distrito Castellana Norte Madrid

  • Extension of the north of Madrid with an urban development and the creation of the second high-speed station.
  • A totally new city with interconnected transport systems, green areas and economic hubs.
  • One of the largest regeneration schemes in Europe.

With a site of over 300ha, Distrito Castellana Norte Madrid is one of the largest regeneration schemes in Europe.

The project involves the extension of the North of the city from the Castellana Avenue (the main north-south axis of Madrid), the regeneration of obsolete industrial land and the integration of the large rail infrastructure linked to the second high-speed station in the North of Madrid.

It also envisages the construction of a new central business district, a new technological hub and several new mixed-use communities.

Social and environmental integration

The project promotes the environmental balance by including a 566,000m green-space-network that links the existing neighbourhoods.

To reduce the use of private vehicles, we have designed a new sustainable mobility strategy. Thanks to an extensive network of public transport, residents and users only have to travel up to a mile to find any existing or planned interchanges.

The plan also takes into account the resident's needs and prioritizes the interconnection between neighbourhoods and their integration into the new scheme.

Multidisciplinary advice

Our management and urban design teams are responsible for managing the design and technical development of the plan, and representing our client in front of the different administration authorities. Our services also include the technical coordination of the urban planning processes, contract management on a technical level, risk and stakeholder management, and legal and cost planning coordination.

This private and public alliance includes the participation of 31 companies, from planners, engineering firms and social consultants to financial experts, real estate agents and lawyers.
