Lincolnshire's Waste to Energy facility

  • The facility is designed to treat approximately 150,000 tonnes of waste a year
  • It will generate enough electricity to power 10,000 homes
  • It will be able to produce 11 MW net electricity for export to the grid

Arup is the lead civil works consultant providing full design services to Clugston Construction Ltd for Lincolnshire’s new Energy from Waste (EfW) facility. Arup is providing geotechnical, civil, structural, fire, acoustic and non-process mechanical, electrical and public health engineering services.

The EfW design is being delivered in a BIM co-ordination model using 3D modelling and drafting to facilitate the design and coordination process, which is being led by Arup. This enhanced communication facilitates services integration, clash detection, and process design planning, leading to faster and smoother construction.

The facility, which will treat approximately 150,000 tonnes of waste a year, is being delivered through a joint venture between Clugston and technology provider CNIM for operator Waste Recycling Group. The plant and will be capable of producing 11 MW net electricity for export to the grid and will include ancillary infrastructure such as landscaping, administration offices and a visitor centre.
