We work with clients across all sectors to design, construct, monitor, review and decommission all kinds of energy structures. These include innovations like our award-winning ACE offshore platforms for offshore oil/gas, wind turbine structure designs, innovative LNG storage tank technologies, nuclear structures, plus reliable and efficient critical infrastructure for onshore energy projects.

Overcoming the toughest challenges

Our team of technical experts specialise in solving problems for demanding onshore, nearshore and offshore energy applications. These challenges arise from the environmental and site conditions, remoteness of the project location, severe loadings, the need to minimise installation costs and the challenges of cost and schedule metrics to ensure viable returns on investment.

Our innovative engineering skills are available worldwide and we have experience in working in some of the most difficult conditions and environments, such as our concrete gravity substructure (CGS) wellhead platform to extend the White Rose oil field off Newfoundland in Canada. Located in 120m water depth, it is a self-installing cost-effective solution to enable year-round drilling, where risks include extreme storm conditions with possible iceberg impacts.

Setting standards within the industry

With over 600 geological and geotechnical specialists around the world, we assess – and design for – sites in highly seismic regions and in areas of weak soils. We bring together advanced structure/soil interaction skills, with current projects including working on challenges in the Netherlands, creating an offshore metrological mast foundation for exceptionally fast installation in Hong Kong, setting criteria for unconventional gas in UK, and designing the turbine housing structure for a tidal lagoon barrage.

Creative approaches to constructability, transportation to site and installation are important and we supported Sempra LNG’s Energia Costa Azul receival terminal in Mexico by challenging industry norms. By rethinking the layout of marine facilities, we achieved great value for our client and minimised the environmental footprint.

Whatever stage a project has reached, whether this is life-time extension, structural performance diagnostics through to complexities of offshore structure decommissioning, our engineers and technical specialists can help. Our cost engineers can help you assess your schedule and budget, and we often assist clients with independent bid evaluation and recommendations. We also have BIM modelling expertise to capture technical documentation through to operational readiness.
